Travel vaccinations for Corringham residents

Hassengate Pharmacy is on Southend Road in the heart of Corringham — the same SS17 postcode, walking distance or a 3-minute drive from the village centre. For local residents that means same-day or walk-in travel consultations are realistic in a way they aren't for clinics further away. Free parking on-site, late opening seven days a week including Saturdays till 9pm, and every travel vaccine in stock.

Most Corringham travellers we see fall into a few categories: families heading to South Asia or East Africa to visit relatives (VFR travel — typhoid, Hep A, sometimes rabies awareness), Hajj and Umrah travellers needing Meningitis ACWY, retired couples planning Mediterranean cruises that touch yellow-fever risk countries, and workers travelling for short-notice contracts where there's no time to wait for GP appointments.

Yellow Fever and the South Essex catchment

Yellow Fever vaccine isn't dispensed at GPs — only NaTHNaC-designated centres can issue the International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP). Hassengate Pharmacy is the closest designated centre for the SS17 / SS16 corridor, which matters if you're flying to Brazil, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania or Côte d'Ivoire, or transiting through countries that require entry-certificate proof. We can issue the certificate on the day; it's valid for life.

Common travel vaccines we administer

Stock includes Yellow Fever (Stamaril), Hepatitis A (Avaxim/Havrix), Hepatitis B (Engerix B / Twinrix combined A+B), Typhoid (Typhim Vi), Rabies (Rabipur), Japanese Encephalitis (Ixiaro), Meningitis ACWY (Nimenrix/Menveo), Cholera oral (Dukoral), Dengue (Qdenga), Chikungunya (Ixchiq), Tick-borne Encephalitis, and routine boosters like Tetanus/Diphtheria/Polio. Stocked on-site — no "come back next week".

Malaria — tablets prescribed in the same visit

Our pharmacist is a GPhC-registered Independent Prescriber. That means malaria tablets — Malarone (atovaquone/proguanil), Doxycycline, or Mefloquine (Lariam) — are prescribed and dispensed in the same visit, with the right regimen selected based on your destination and medical history. No follow-up GP appointment needed. See TravelHealthPro country-specific advice for malaria-risk areas.

Booking, NHS vs private, and how much it costs

Some travel vaccines are free on the NHS (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Polio combined, Hep A and Typhoid for certain destinations) via your GP — book early as NHS slots can be limited. The private-only jabs (Yellow Fever, Rabies, Japanese Encephalitis, Meningitis ACWY for Hajj, Cholera, Dengue, Chikungunya) are always private and we keep them in stock. Pricing varies by vaccine — we'll give you the full quote at consultation; the consultation itself is included in the appointment fee.

Getting to Hassengate Pharmacy from Corringham

From Corringham village centre, Hassengate Pharmacy is 0.5 mi south on Southend Road (the A1014). Three to five minutes by car, ten by foot. Buses 11 and 100 serve Southend Road directly. Free patient parking on-site at the front. We're open Mon 8am–9pm, Tue 7am–9pm, Wed–Fri 8am–9pm, Sat 9am–9pm, Sunday closed.

Why Choose

Why Book Here

Pharmacist-Led Advice

Your appointment is handled through a pharmacy clinic, not an online-only form. You can talk through your destination, itinerary and medical history before any vaccination is recommended.

Same-Day Appointments

Same-day appointments are routinely available, with a minimum 2-hour booking notice. Useful if your trip is close and you need to act quickly.

Open 7 Days

Extended opening hours across the week, including evenings and Sunday opening. Easier to fit travel health around work, school runs or last-minute plans.

More Than Travel Jabs

A working community pharmacy with NHS services and private healthcare clinics on site. If you need wider support before you travel, you're already in the right place.
